Tips & Tricks for Stretching Your eBook Budget

Tuesday, October 3, 2017

Maximizing your investment in digital content is an important goal for today’s school librarian. Join us for a free webinar to learn tips and tricks for stretching your eBook budget to reach the most readers with the most titles.

You’ll hear from Becky Calzada, information and library services coordinator for the Leander Independent School District (TX), who’ll provide insight from her experience growing a successful digital collection that registers thousands of checkouts each month.

We’ll also be joined by OverDrive Education’s Christina Samek, who’s worked hand-in-hand with schools across the country to deeply engage students and staff with eBooks, audiobooks and other digital resources. She’ll share proven best practices for serving reading and learning needs while maintaining a low cost-per-circ.

Plus, there’ll be plenty of time for Q&A to get answers to any questions you have along the way. Register now for this can’t-miss session!

Learning Outcomes

  1. Learn how flexible lending options like shared collections, class sets and simultaneous use can help you maximize your budget to meet your unique priorities.
  2. Learn how to leverage free digital reading platform features like curated collections, professional development “rooms” and student-driven acquisition to boost engagement and circulation.

  3. Learn how free resources like promotional templates, on-demand training and collection development recommendations can help build staff excitement around your digital reading service. It’s been proven that one of the best ways to increase student usage of digital content is to have educators on board as active users.

Who Should Attend

School library professionals and those interested in the topic.

Presenter

Becky Calzada

Becky Calzada is the District Library Coordinator in Leander ISD, a fast-growth school district just northwest of Austin, Texas.  She’s been an educator for 30 years, the last 17 years of her career as a librarian in Texas. She strives to continuously improve, build relationships and support teachers, librarians and administrators in her district while learning about library and furniture design, technology integration, literacy best practices and leadership.  Becky provides staff development in her district and has presented at many Texas Conferences. She is a co-moderator of #TXLCHAT and is currently the Texas Library Association-School Library Division Past-Chair.
