Publishers send copies of their new titles to the Children's Literature Review Interest Group (CLEAR). These books are aimed at the target audience of children from birth through age 11. The group gathers every other month to select books and read reviews. At each meeting reviews from the last set of books are shared with the group. The participating reviewers get to choose books to read and review for the next meeting. The number of books taken is based on the number of reviewers at the meeting and the number of books received from the publishers. The written reviews are sent electronically to the publishers. The participating member gets to keep the books that they review. Most of the reviewers add the books to their library's collection or use the books in their classrooms. Most members will add close to $1000 worth of free books to their libraries each year. Cost: Attendees from Supporting Member libraries pay an annual fee of $50.00. All others pay an annual fee of $100.00. The annual fee is not pro-rated.
