The goal of the Technical Services Special Interest Group (TeSSIG) is to provide a community of resources for Technical Services departments in SWON Libraries Consortium (all libraries of Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky). TeSSIG will encompass all areas of Technical Services – from acquisitions, to cataloging, to processing and any other hat we need to wear! Through regularly scheduled meetings, TeSSIG will explore current trends and challenges, as well as share workflow ideas. Each meeting will focus on a predetermined topic of discussion along with a period of open discussion. In order to support TeSSIG’s goal of sharing ideas and resources, each meeting will be held at a different library in the area. Ideally, each meeting will conclude with a brief tour of the hosting library’s department to see how that library is structured and get an idea of the workflow.

Agenda and Topic of Discussion: How we collaborate with our other departments. How do catalogers know their work is meeting the needs felt in Public Services? How do acquisitions departments help the rest of the library stay in the know about new resources and technologies? Where do you reach out for help and where do you prefer to be left alone?
