Competency: Marketing and Public Relations

Subcompetency: understands and applies marketing theory and practices,develops implements and evaluates an ongoing marketing plan for the library

 

Description: Increase your message effectiveness by delivering several messages to smaller groups of customers rather than generic messaging to all of your cardholders.  Use your customer’s habits to tailor specific messages just for them and track the message effectiveness using Google Analytics, a CRM or both.

Chris Rice Bio: Chris Rice has over 10 years’ experience in marketing along with a background web, multi-media and video production.  As the Marketing Team Manager at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, he has used cardholder and survey data to implement progressively more targeted email messaging and build a content strategy to optimize its reach.  He received a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 1996 and followed that up with an MA in Telecommunications in what was then the MIME Program at IU (Masters of Immersive Mediated Environments).
