Agenda:

  • Opening speaker Miguel Figueroa, director of the American Library Association’s Center for the Future of Libraries, will highlight trends and discuss what they mean for our work with young people.
  • A day-long memory drawing/writing and sharing experience will level up your connection with your peers, your teens, and yourself.
  • Guided conversation during the locally-sourced gourmet lunch will combine game-playing with addressing challenging issues in youth services.
  • Hands-on activity stations, from food-tasting to mediation to bikes, will provide you a wealth of ideas to bring back to your workplace.

Educational Outcomes:

  • Participants will explore trends that will impact our young people and our workplaces.
  • Through a memory-sharing process, participants will engage in conversations with peers to move dialogue and action towards the heart of what teen services encompasses.
  • Participants will be exposed to other libraries’/schools’/institutions’ innovations, challenges, and solutions in serving young people.
  • Participants will expand their network of youth services experts across the state, and across libraries and related learning institutions, for support, resources, advice, and encouragement.
  • Participants will take away renewed enthusiasm, and ideas to enhance their programs/services.
