Join us for the 2016 Conference “Outreach Services—Building Community” on October 19-21 at the Marriott RiverCenter, 10 W. Rivercenter Blvd., Covington, KY. Combining the legacy of the Kentucky outreach librarians and the Ohio history of ABOS, the 2016 ABOS conference will inspire, encourage and instill pride in all who provide outreach services in all its variety.

In October of 2016 the ABOS Conference will be in our neighborhood -- specifically at the Marriott River Center in Covington, KY.  The cost of early-bird registration for non-ABOS members is $350 ($250 for early-bird for members) and SWON would like to help provide a chance for an employee of a SWON Supporting Member Library to attend.

The eligibility is as follows:

  • For the Diversity Scholarship, our focus is on racial and ethnic diversity, therefore, preference will be given to those applicants from underrepresented racial minorities

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have not attended an ABOS Conference before

  • The applicant must be employed in a SWON supporting member library and working in bookmobile or outreach services at the time the application is submitted

  • The applicant does not need to be a member of the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services (ABOS)

  • The Award will cover a maximum of $350 in registration fees for the 2016 ABOS Conference

  • The Award will not cover travel, hotel, or any other expenses

  • The award winner must register by August 26 at 5:00 p.m. to be eligible for the Early Bird Registration Fee

  • Applications must be received by August 1st

Early Bird Registration (ends on Aug. 26 at 5 pm):
Member: $250 for conference
Non-Member: $350 for conference


Regular Registration (after Aug. 26 at 5 pm):
Member: $300 for conference
Non-Member: $400 for conference


Other Registration Options (thru Sept. 28 at 5 pm):
Board Member: $0
Single Day (10/19 or 10/20) : $200 per day
Presenter: $150
Bookmobile driver bringing bookmobile:   $150

 

Extras:
There will be an Riverboad Cruise (including Dinner) on Wednesday night of the conference. The  registration fee for this activity is $35.

Rates $139 per day plus taxes and fees

The Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services is comprised of libraries of all types and sizes. Library administrators, support staff, library staff, governmental officials, trustees, friends of libraries, and professionals from other fields comprise this movement.

The missionof the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services is to support and encourage government officials, library administrators, trustees, and staff in the provision of quality bookmobile and outreach services to meet diverse community information and programming needs.

The purposeof the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services is:

(a) to provide a forum for discussion of activities, programs, challenges and successes in the field of bookmobile and outreach services in libraries

(b) to contribute to the education and training of library staff working in the area of bookmobile and outreach services in libraries

(c) to promote bookmobile and outreach services as essential services in libraries

(d) to serve as a channel of communication and instruction to improve bookmobile and outreach services
