Kentucky History Education Conference: Conflict & Compromise in History

Not a SWON Event - $35-50 - Thursday, attend sessions led by experienced teachers and learn about tools and activities you can implement in your own classrooms, sessions will features topics such as how to implement National History Day in the classroom, teaching controversy in the classroom, using the latest technology tools in your classroom, and more! Friday, you will learn about the history of Berea College, the Day Law, and African-American education in Kentucky.

Conflict and Compromise in History

Thursday, July 13, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Kentucky Historical Society

Keynote Presentation: Kelly Brengelman will give a Chautauqua performance of Madeline McDowell Breckinridge

July 13: Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort

  • Attend sessions led by experienced teachers and learn about tools and activities you can implement in your own classrooms.
  • Sessions will features topics such as how to implement National History Day in the classroom, teaching controversy in the classroom, using the latest technology tools in your classroom, and more!
  • A special lunchtime Chautauqua performance by Kelly Brengelman as Madeline McDowell Breckinridge.

 

July 14Bus trip to Berea College

  • You will learn about the history of Berea College, the Day Law, and African-American education in Kentucky.
  • Teachers will receive primary and secondary source materials for their classrooms.
  • Plus, a behind the scenes tour of Berea’s special collections and archives, tour of a historic Rosenwald School, and lunch at historic Boone Tavern.

Rates (include lunch, refreshments, and handouts)
$35: Pre-service teachers
$45: KHS, Kentucky Association for Teachers of History, Kentucky Association for School Administrators and Kentucky Council for Social Studies members
$50: All other registrants
