A responsible citizen–local or global–is open-minded, culturally literate, and leads with empathy. Girl Rising exposes young people to those skills by connecting them to stories of challenge faced by girls around the world as they seek education and strive for opportunity.

In this edWebinar, Kayce Freed Jennings, Senior Producer of Girl Rising, will share the story behind the film, and how it has inspired a global movement today. She will share stories of girls whose lives have been transformed because of the power of education–true-life examples of resilience and determination to tackle issues such as child marriage, poverty and gender-based violence. Kayce will discuss the importance of investment in global girls’ education and how this subject has proven effective at enhancing global awareness, promoting empathy, and increasing critical thinking among youth.

Through case studies, attendees will gain a concrete understanding of how they may apply or modify Girl Rising’s innovative, low (or no)-cost, and flexible curricular resources within their own work. Participants will leave the session prepared to implement, joining a vibrant and growing community of 6,000+ educators already part of the Girl Rising movement and a larger community of girls’ rights advocates. There will be time for questions after Kayce’s presentation. K-12 classroom teachers, university professors, department chairs, administrators, student life teams and extracurricular program staff are invited to attend. Girl Rising’s content and programming is especially recommended for those engaging with upper elementary, middle and high school students.
