Level-Up Lab: How to Make Your Library the Job Seekers Best Friend

Friday, August 18th @ 3 PM - 5 PM

 

Description:

Few things that librarians do is as important and rewarding as assisting people in job search. The library is remarkably well suited for this calling, especially if we understand what a modern job search looks like and are familiar with the resources that we can make available. 


This class will discuss the various elements of a modern job search, the resources that are available in our collections and elsewhere and how the library can make people aware of its potential to aid them in their job search. 

 

Who should attend?

All staff who program for adult services 

 

Competencies covered:

  • Personal/Interpersonal Competencies
  • Adult and Older Adult Services

 

Presenter:

Donald I. Crews, MLIS, has over 6 years of experience aiding the under and un-employed develop and execute job search strategies.  He has been a co-facilitator of the Job Seekers group, a joint venture of the Washington-Centerville Public Library and the Dayton Metro Library. He has coached numerous job seekers.  He also often assists businesses to use many of these same tools and techniques.  He has taught a variety of classes including LinkedIn, library databases and competitive intelligence techniques geared to the employment community.
