Transforming Challenging Behavior Through Leadership of Your Program: Mindset, Play, and Theater Techniques, by Barb O’Neill, Ed.D.

Learn effective strategies for supporting teachers who are struggling with children who exhibit challenging behavior that you can use tomorrow. Whether children are hitting, biting, throwing chairs, or not following directions you will gain concrete ideas for how to empower teachers to create strengths-based interventions that will help these children. We will also discuss how to approach parent and family collaboration even when partnering with certain families on behalf of children seems impossible. Through exercises and examples you will be introduced to the Transform Challenging Behavior Method. This webinar is especially for directors and administrators who want to empower their staff to handle behavioral challenges on their own and who want to see true programmatic transformation in terms of supporting children who use challenging behavior and their families.

In this webinar participants will:

• Learn 3 simple theater techniques that your teachers can use to increase engagement during circle time and
transitions and thereby prevent challenging behavior (no acting experience required!)
• Be introduced to an innovative method for supporting children’s play that can help children who flit from one activity
to another or who use aggression to obtain objects or get attention
• Get new ideas for how to partner with the families that challenge you most and learn what to do about the families
who complain about other children’s behavior
• Understand what the research says about teacher beliefs and behavioral support approaches and why you can’t
afford not to know about this
