Equipping Students with Digital Literacy Skills
Thursday, August 24, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

If you attend the live session, you’ll be emailed a CE certificate within 24 hours of the edWebinar. If you view the recording and would like a CE certificate, join the Success in a Digital World community and go to the edWebinar Archives folder to take the CE quiz.

Our goal as educators is to prepare our students to face the challenges of tomorrow. These days that means ensuring they have the skills they need to succeed in our digital world. Though your students may be able to play video games and use cell phones, that doesn’t mean they have the digital literacy skills they need to be successful on online assessments, in college, or their future career in a global economy.

In this edWebinar, Nettie McDonald Briggs, Senior Education Specialist for Learning.com, and Jeff Meyer, Director of Education for Learning.com, will share how you can give your students a competitive edge by equipping them with these critical digital literacy skills—starting as early as kindergarten:

Keyboarding and word processing
Online safety and digital citizenship
Business applications, including spreadsheets and presentation software
Computational thinking and coding
Join us to find out how to implement a comprehensive digital literacy curriculum in either a computer lab or a classroom setting. You’ll also hear best practices on how you can integrate digital literacy into core area instruction. Jeff and Nettie will field your questions after their presentation. Elementary and middle school classroom teachers, technology teachers, library media specialists, principals, vice principals, and technology coordinators are invited to this live, interactive event.
