SWON Visits – Blanchester Public Library

It’s so great to hear about what you’re up to as I resume my SWON Visits. When last I visited Chris Owens (Director of Blanchester Public Library) he was working on their transition to a union catalog with the COOL Consortium (Consortium of Ohio Libraries). COOL is Ohio’s first Evergreen ILS consortium which helps its members streamline acquisitions, simplify cataloging and allows seamless resource sharing between members.
So what’s Chris’ opinion now that it’s been functional for over a year? It’s a win for the community and the library. More of the library’s collection is being used and more of the community’s desires are being fulfilled at the best possible cost. How can you get better than that? The only thing better would be to have more members, of course. If you’d like to know more about COOL from a Director’s point of view, please contact Chris. He’ll be pleased to tell you all about it.
