Logo for the 2015 AASL ConferenceA visit with Linda Behen, the Library/Media Specialist at Mother of Mercy High School, is always an exercise in finding out how much information can you hold at one time. She’s not the sort who will deluge you, rather when you ask a question you thought had a simple response; you find out that there was so much more there. Take Linda’s Library page on the LibGuides Platform. It’s clean, easy to understand and therefore, easy to use. The site is loaded with helpful and deep resources, saving students time. The Tech News tab features YouTube links to video channels of tech news and the other side of the page simply lists quality tech websites, from AllThingsDigital to Wired. Don’t you wish your webmaster maintained a helpful, updated list of tech news websites for you to use?

An editor and contributor to Pop Culture Universe: Icons Idols Ideas (Academic) database from ABC-CLIO, Linda is also the author of two books, both of which are available from Amazon and other retailers. Linda is a firm believer in connecting with teens where they are and for her that means that pop culture is a help, not a hindrance. "Recharge Your Library Programs With Pop Culture and Technology" will tell you how. I highly recommend her work.

Linda recommends the 17th National Conference of the American Association of School Librarians, which this fall (November 5-8) will be held in Columbus, Ohio. It doesn’t get much closer than this! So plan now, ask ahead, and put it on your calendar. SWON Libraries will be sponsoring a van to help keep your costs down. If you’re interested in a ride to the conference please contact Racheal@swonlibraries.org.
