Teen Reading Challenge and More
Many of you have been anxiously awaiting the return of our annual Teen Reading Challenge. Well, I’m excited to tell you that it’s here! Registration opens today, so round up your teams and get ready to read as many teen books as you can between the months of February and March!
There’s a few new things this year (Including me!) so make sure you check out our TRC2016 page for all the information on the new log, the new Reader’s Advisory we are hoping to put together and the new prizes. That's right, you could win up to $250 for your teens.
But TRC isn’t the only thing we’ve got going on this year for the YA crowd – 2016 is SWON’s year of the teen. We will be launching a few new initiatives for our teen library staff this year including an all-new collection of Games to Lend, a new Summer Reading Program, and a Teen Event come November. More details to come, so please keep an eye on our twenty6TEEN resource page for more information.
Don’t work with teens? Don’t worry – we’ve got plenty going on for you, as well. Make sure to check out our upcoming events for webinars, seminars, read-ins, and all sorts of Continuing Education opportunities.
Happy New Year and let’s all have a great twenty6TEEN,
Cassondra Vick, SWON Technology Educator
A Hello from Cassondra
Hi, everyone, I'm Cassondra Vick, also known as SWON's Technology Educator (or as "the new Nathan") and I'm so pleased to be bringing you this new slate of Teen events. However, I'm not just here for the teens -- I want to help you learn what you need, no matter your constituency.
I’m here for YOU.
I have an extensive background in libraries, with almost 15 years of experience in public libraries, much of that working in Youth Services. I’m particularly passionate about “tweens” and other groups I see as underserved in many libraries today.
I’m also passionate about technology, and recently earned my MLIS from the University of Kentucky with a concentration in IT, so I am – as you can imagine – thrilled to have this opportunity to put my tech knowledge to work for the SWON community.
Have questions? Want a program? Want to learn something new? I’m all ears! Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I look forward to working for you.
