Please enjoy the Emerging Techbits Podcast: Episode 28!
This edition of NEO's Emerging Techbits features some cool alternatives to Pokémon GO for those who want some technological inspiration with their exercise, such as the apps "Fit for Battle" and "Zombies Run," both of which turn exercise into a game.
More interested in the augmented reality (AR) aspect of Pokémon GO? You could try the game that Pokémon GO is based off of, Ingress. Ingress is an AR app that allows you to capture gates and do battle in your own city. It's Pokémon GO for grownups (not that grownups can't play Pokémon GO) and by the way, it will clue you in to where local Pokéstops might be, too.
In the health and safety arena, Holly introduces us to a new wearable and a tool to measure your vitamin levels. Athena is a small clip-on that allows you to send out an emergency text with a location beacon to contacts of your choice. Sort of like a panic button on-the-go. The Vitastiq is a pen-like device that measures your vitamin levels. Very intriguing!
Lastly, in the world of robotics, there's the personable Cozmo Robot. Launching in October, this robot with a personality can be pre-ordered for 159.99. Engaget says he's a "Pixar character made real"!
