Live training with our Level-Up Labs

We here at SWON are still coming down from our excitement at hosting a great Staff Training Symposium. We had librarians and library staff from over a dozen different institutions in the Northern Kentucky and Southwestern Ohio areas attend this in-person, all day training event for library staff of all types.

Everyone had a chance to learn about many emerging trends that may affect our work: from income inequality to emerging adulthood, and from fanfiction to the changing nature of privacy. We could not have done it at all without the amazing Pat Wagner, our Staff Training Symposium committee and the excellent facilities provided by the Campbell County Public Library System.

But, of course, most of you reading this weren’t able to make it out to our event – we know how hard it can be to spare the time and money for these all-day training affairs. That’s one of the reasons that SWON is pleased to offer our hands-on Level-Up Labs here in Blue Ash. We offer training on a variety of topics that include technical how-tos and HR best-practices. These afternoon events usually occur twice a month and are free to all.

Level-Up Labs are also, for those who are interested, a chance for you to share your expertise with your colleagues. We love it when community members ask us if they can share their knowledge and if you’ve got something to talk about, please let us know at We’d love to find some experts on social media marketing, maker technology, and Macs, to name a few, but we are open to many ideas. What can you share?

We also want to hear from you when it comes to putting together more labs in the upcoming months. What aren’t we covering that you’d like to know about? What can we help you take on? Again, email any thoughts to and help us to help you.

Meanwhile, check out our calendar of upcoming Labs, which includes talks on LibGuides 2.0, designing and printing with TinkerCadPersonality Theory, and Holiday Maker ideas. All sessions are free, but space is limited, so sign up today to reserve your spot. Meanwhile, we’re generating ideas for the approaching new year, so keep checking back.

We hope to see you soon!
