Special Interest Groups
Recognizing that the library community encompasses a vast spectrum of interests, specializations, and disciplines, SWON Libraries hosts a wide variety of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) where our members join with others in the library community to:
  • Expand their professional networks
  • Make the most of new technologies and trends
  • Delve deeply into cutting-edge issues
  • Develop practical strategies for addressing the challenges facing libraries today
  • Advance their professional development goals
  • Mentor or be mentored
  • Receive library materials in exchange for product reviews*

Typically, a SWON Libraries’ SIG is active over a period of months or years as the SIG’s members collaborate to explore and take action on issues of interest. SIGs are open to all Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky library staff.  Most are free.  

How Do I Join A SWON Library SIG?

SIGs are open to all Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky library staff.  See the list of our current libraries' SIGs and contact the SIG’s conveners (group admins) or see our calendar to register for an upcoming meeting.

How Do I Start a New SIG?

SWON Libraries’ welcomes the development of new Special Interest Groups related to new topics of interest. If you have an idea and you would like to be the convener of a new Special Interest Group, we’ll help you get it started.  Please contact Melanie at (513) 751-4422 to discuss.
