3Doodler

Want to get people interested in 3D creating? Borrow SWON's 3Doodler. The 3Doodler is a pen that instead of ink coming out, 3D filament comes out and you can create anything you can think of, just by drawing it. The 3Doodler comes with several packages of filament that you can use. Here are some ideas to test out with the 3Doodler.

Arduino Kit

Arduino Kit ImageWant to get adults into "hacking"? Borrow SWON's Arduino Kit. The Arduino Kit contains the Getting Started with Arduino book by Maker Shed and the getting started kit by Maker Shed. When you borrow the Arduino Kit you can learn more about what Arduino is, and do some tinkering, please no soldering.

Augmented Reality Kit

Want to get children and teens into augmented reality? Borrow SWON's Augmented Reality Kit. The Augmented Reality Kit consists of three separate programs meant for three different age groups. In the kit there are Quiver coloring pages that when colored and used with the iPad provided the artwork will come to life. There are also several books, puzzles, and posters in the kit that when used with the corresponding apps the pages of the books will come alive with Sea Life, Safari Animals, Bugs and more. The last program in the kit is an app called Aurasma which allows you to turn anything you want into augmented reality.

Cameo Silhouette

Want to cut paper, fabric, vinyl or other material for a project or program? Borrow SWON's Silhouette. The Cameo Silhouette is a programmable cutter. It looks and works sort of like a printer, but instead of printing with ink, it cuts shapes out of paper, fabric, or other material. You can do some pretty amazing things with it.

You have two options to chose from when borrowing the Silhouette. Option 1: Borrow the Silhouette as is, for two weeks. This is free for Supporting members and costs $20 for Geographic members.

Cubelets

Want to get children interested in robotics? Borrow SWON's Cubelets set today, Cubelets  are magnetic blocks that can be snapped together to make an endless variety of robots. You can build robots that drive around on a tabletop, respond to light, sound, and temperature, and have surprisingly lifelike behavior.

E-Readers

E-readers ImageWant to get some hands-on time with e-readers? Borrow SWON’s set of e-readers or borrow them individually, and you’ll get to use a variety of e-ink and tablet readers. Here’s our list of e-readers:

  • Nook Color (tablet)
  • Sony Reader (e-ink)

LEGO Fusion Town Master

LEGO Fusion Town Master ImageWant to get children into "making"? Borrow SWON's LEGO Fusion Town Master. The LEGO Fusion Town Master is a fun way for kids to take LEGO building to the next level. Children create buildings on a special base, once they are created you use the app to bring the building into the town, imagine Sims except you build the town, building by building with LEGOs. You will need to have a iPad or iPhone to use this Tech to Lend.

Makey Makey

Want to make every day objects into a piano, game, or camera? Borrow SWON's Makey Makey. The Makey Makey is an invention that allows you to create almost any item into a computer control pad. All you need is the Makey Makey, a laptop, everyday objects, and your imagination. Turn glasses of water into a piano (watch the video here), turn play-dough into a game-pad for Mario or Pac-man, find some other pretty amazing things here. If you want ideas of how to incorporate Makey Makey into lesson plans, try this.

Want to get children interested in hands-on circuitry and electronics? Borrow SWON's Snap Circuit Light Snap Circuit Jr. Kit today. Snap Circuit LightSnap Circuit Jr is a kit that allows you to snap pieces onto a board which connects the circuitry to create many different creations such as a door bell, a flying saucer or an alarm. 3D Printer

Want to learn more about 3D Printers and what they can do? Borrow SWON's printer. It comes with a laptop and the software required for printing already installed and different colors of filament to use. It is ready to print amazing things from a website called Thingiverse or designs you've created.
