Construction Tips & Pitfalls
Sara Davis is the Account Manager with IAP Goverment Services group, a state-contract Third Part Administrator for the State of Ohio. IAP Government Services Group founded in 2002 as a Construction Management firm and headquartered in Columbus, OH.  IAP is certified MBE, VOB, and SBA certified company.

IAP provides a turnkey project management solution to managing your facility maintenance, repair, and construction projects from inception to completion. Our Third Party Administrator (TPA) program eliminates the high costs and challenges of managing construction projects of varying sizes and their related paperwork. We have a competitive bid management system for our prequalified, vetted contractors. We offer consolidated invoicing and executive and operational reporting as well as written defined scopes and estimates.

Exploring Cultural Competency: An invitation for awareness, intention and inclusion

Cultural competency is not a separate capability, but a truly integrated intelligence that is part of and is woven into every other skill and competency.
     - Michael Wheeler, Inclusion as a Transformational Diversity and Business Strategy
Cultural Competency invites us as professionals to extend our abilities to interact with others with a sense of inclusivity in every encounter. We have the opportunity to learn from each other’s differences, extend our cultural intelligence all the while understanding our own worldview.  We learn to manage intergroup dynamics and create spaces of equity, fairness and inclusion. In today’s workshop, we explore our practice, understand terminology and examine best practice programming and commitments to cultivate a welcoming environment for all.

Barbara Allen celebrates the joyful connections between inclusion and leadership in all she does.  For over 17 years, she has served Columbus State Community College in many different capacities focusing on spaces where “everyone matters”.  She especially loves working closely with students, staff and faculty to build community.  Most favorite contributions include: Student Assistance Center Advisor, Welcome Team Coordinator, PONO Facilitator and most recently her current role as Coordinator of Professional Development and Retention where she teaches, coaches and develops curriculum to support the College’s employee and organizational development. She was humbled and honored to share improv as an invited speaker at TEDx Columbus Women 2013.   She was a featured teller Spring 2015 at the Speak Easy’s Annual celebration of story, The Big Easy and is married to her very own storyteller, Kevin Cordi! Barbara was named Columbus State’s Legacy in Leadership Award for 2018.
