Paws Off Your Programs: Passive Programming For Children's Services

Passive programming can be a great way to connect with patrons and generate interest. We'll talk about some of the passive programs that were created for the Children's Department at the Covington Branch of the Kenton County Public Library, and ideas for the future. We'll provide program feedback and reflection, and how to start passive programming at your library, even on a limited budget.

Chas Smith is a Northern Kentucky native that has worked in STEM education for over 10 years.  Chas attended Eastern Kentucky University and received a bachelor's in middle school education with certifications in both science and social science.  After a short career as a middle school teacher, Chas started working in youth services at Kenton County Public Library as a children's programmer with a focus on STEM.  He is now excited about his current position as the Emergent Trends and Technology Educator.


Lauren Brandstetter is a Children's Programmer for the Kenton County Public Library, Covington Branch. She plans and carries out programs for children and families on a variety of topics. She has presented at KPLA and online for KLDA webinars. She is currently enrolled in the MLIS program at The University of Kentucky with a focus in Youth Services.


OLC accepts up to 1 CEU.
