Informational Session on CPI Verbal Intervention Training

Join us for an informational session about a new service SWON is offering for its members.  This fall we will be offering an intensive class on verbal interventions that focuses on de-escalation techniques and safe, non-restrictive interventions. Staff enrolled in this program will learn to recognize the stages of an escalating crisis and evidenced-based techniques to appropriately de-escalate. This session will give a better understanding of the training we will be offering later this fall.

Chas Smith is a Northern Kentucky native that has worked in STEM education for over 10 years.  Chas attended Eastern Kentucky University and received a bachelor's in middle school education with certifications in both science and social science.  After a short career as a middle school teacher, Chas started working in youth services at Kenton County Public Library as a children's programmer with a focus on STEM.  He is now excited about his current position as the Emergent Trends and Technology Educator.
