One of the things we love about SWON events is the chance to talk to you, face to face. You share stories of what you’ve been doing at your branch. Or you ask a question or make a request. Often these conversations happen in passing, but however they happen, they’re very influential.

We pass these ideas on to others, use them as inspiration for new or revised events and Level-Up Labs, and everything in between. Often informal, they’re an important part of community building. We want to hear from you more.

Baking up a blog roll

There are lots of librarians and library staff who write their own blogs, keep library-related Pinterest boards, tweet or share in other ways online. Reveal yourselves! We want to learn from you and help connect you to each other. So we’re building a page of links to your pages–a good old-fashioned blog roll.

To add your site to our blog roll, simply respond to this email with a few details:

  • Your name (i.e. Ender Wiggin)
  • Your page’s main address (i.e.
  • A brief description or category (i.e. video/war games)

We’ll organize your links as they come in and hope to post the page soon. (We’ll announce the address in an upcoming email.)
We hope to hear from you!

Networking (no cables required)

At SWON’s upcoming Fall Luncheon, we take networking seriously. That’s because people who have attended past Luncheons have told us how valuable those conversations have been. Having participated, we certainly agree.

Since the Luncheon is followed by SWON’s Membership Meeting (an update on SWON that’s open to everyone), lots of SWON board members will be there. They bring great ideas and great energy with them. Join us for some great conversations and some interesting talks on maker spaces in libraries. Sign up here:
