PCI Webinar - Tools to Build Your Library’s Political Capital

Libraries that are well connected to the community and local power structures are less likely to lose funding and are more likely to have the support of local politicians and win elections. But how does a library take advantage of the local power structures and build political capital?

Patrick “PC” Sweeney will walk participants through some of the most commonly used political campaign and community organizing tactics that some of the largest and most successful Political Action Committees and Causes use to influence politicians and win elections. These tactics include creating and identifying strong audiences, understanding ladders of engagement, power mapping, and using social media to engage with public.

Greenacres Visual Literacy Conference

This July, the Greenacres staff and members of the Greenacres Artists Guild are teaming up with nationally recognized children’s book illustrators Barbara McClintock, Matt Phelan and Ralph Fletcher, the University of Findlay’s Mazza Museum, and Kent State University staff to provide professional development opportunities for art and creative writing educators for a Visual Literacy Conference.

This two-day event will deepen the participants’ knowledge and understanding of the arts, specifically visual imagery and visual literacy in classroom and visual arts teachers in order to build artistic and visual literacy skills in children.
