Summer Reading Workshop (Early Bird 'til 1/31)

Join us on Thursday, February 27th in Centerville, OH for a day of fantastic fun, folk tales & folding paper!

This year our workshop will help you "Imagine Your Story" with an entire half day devoted to storytelling with Deborah L. Dubois. Deborah is the Outreach Coordinator at the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library where she has worked for 35 years. Sharing stories with children is one of her favorite parts of the job. She has presented workshops in many forums such as OLC & ALSC and now she's bringing her expertise to Southwest Ohio.

You'll bring a book and Deborah will show you inventive ways to tell the story besides simply reading the text. This will be a hands-on event where you will leave with a craft item you have made to help you imagine your story!

We will also feature an origami how-to session from Chris McCullough of the Ohio Paper Folders and a demonstration of tech from our own Chas Smith -- our new Emergent Trends & Technology Educator.

This full day of fun is great for those using the collaborative Summer Reading theme as well as those who just want to explore new program ideas and ways to change up their storytime repertoire.

Early Bird Registration goes through the end of January, so register now to secure your seat and $5 off!

Marketing Your Library's Digital Collection

While 95% of public libraries lend eBooks, 60% of our patrons indicate a lack of awareness of eBook availability as a barrier to use; this according to a recent Library Journal/School Library Journal poll. As libraries continue to add streaming movies, music, digital magazines and other formats to our collections, our need to engage in effective marketing will only continue to grow.

In this interactive and informative presentation we will cover both traditional and digital marketing strategies, and explore best practices. With the right approach, your library can boost awareness and usage of its digital collection!

Can't attend on the date and time listed? Anyone who registers in advance for PCI Webinars will receive an archived copy of the presentation for later viewing. SWON provides PCI Webinars to our Supporting Members for free (and to Geographic Members and everyone else at a reduced price), so there's no reason not to register today!
